Smtp server rejected password mac mail
I know the user name but not the password, so who do I contact to reset the password? If I understand correctly, it sounds like you don't know the password to access your email from the server, even directly at the email server's website? There have been court cases about this; they protect privacy by not giving out the password to anyone for almost any reason.
Why Does Mail Keep Asking For My Password?
I am seeing this with all my users today. I have 4 mac users and my own test account. ALL of them are getting this error when trying to connect to icloud using a client such as Outlook for Mac. This just started today Friday June 16, It is am PST in California right now. I expect this is a server-based authentication problem that is not the fault of all the clients at the same time losing their passwords or somehow forgetting them. So apple NOC needs to fix this issue. So I am connecting to imap.

The web based iCloud is a completely different client. Outlook for Mac now showing 'connected' to icloud. However all sent emails are sitting in the outbox. But mail is not sending. Touched nothing, but send and receive have now taken the account offline again. So something has changed on the Apple side but it is worse and not better. Without changing anything now the clients for all my users are working again for icloud using Outlook for Mac. Once we knew it was on the icloud side we left everything be and about 20 minutes ago all the emails started connecting again. Jun 16, PM. I presume it's just GMail hiccuping, and it'll right itself later in the day, but is there another fix to it? Mac Pro 3. Type in the correct password and it goes about its business. My guess is that it occurs from two things but I'm really guessing here : 1.
GMail or whatever server hiccups. It fixes only once they get it right on their end generally within a few hours 2. Apple's Keychain glitches. I remove that item from the Keychain Utility and that fixes it. This happens to me with Godaddy email servers also.

Maybe 1 or 2 times a month, maybe. It's a little frustrating, but not a big deal really. Happens fairly frequently for me, too with: GMail Fastmail. Mac Very annoying. Quite often just selecting Cancel and letting it try again resolves it. It's Mail's generic error message for almost every network issue. Click "cancel" and try checking your mail again in a couple of minutes.
