Additional Information For You. Am unable to do wireless priting via access point. Is there a solution to this problem? I just purchased the Selphy CP and had the same problem. The fix was so simple. Plug your mac into Selphy via USB. Disconnect the USB from the Selphy. Restart the Selphy Photo Print Software and it should now light up green that all is connected. I thought the problem was with the network connection, but my mac just couldn't find the Selphy. I am running I have a Time Capsule set up as a stand alone internal network at my home and use it as a network attched hard drive directly - not via Time Machine.
I can "see" the printer when I connect but cannot print to it. I open a photo in preview and select the printer and print. I get a Cannin Selphy CP Generic connection method not supported message - The printer does show up in my Print and Scan control panel in System Preferences I also cannot reach it to check suplies At the print it dsiplays the printer to computer connection via USB Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Asa. Hi Asa, I experienced the same error although I'm not using the time capsule, but only through the wifi.
I did following and resolved the problem. I re-installed the driver software. I re-configured the printer settings. I didn't add the selphy manually, but just I just input "CP" in the searchbox in "Add" dialog, and clicked "OK" button then the printer is set automatically. I tried pringing a photo from iPhoto and could print correctly. I've installed the driver provided by Canon on their website for Mountain Lion, but even when I insert the disk, I cannot seem to install the software required for the printer to be used properly.
It's also supposed to be wireless, but I can only seem to get the printer to be recognized when it is plugged in via USB.

Can anyone give me more detailed instructions on how to install the necessary software? Thanks very much. Thank you PAHU, your help is very much appreciated! After much tinkering I was ready to surrender and return this printer. What gives me hope is the fact that your CP is working for you. I've read through every single support thread I can find regarding print issues with the CP wireless printer.
I've installed the driver, connected to my access point and follow all instructions in my manual and still cannot get a photo to print from iPhoto what's up. Additional info: at first I was getting an error message that the print size was not supported by my printer, but I seemed to have worked through that issue and now I'm getting the error message posted above. Any ideas? I had read others talk about uninstalling and reinstalling the CP driver. I did this, with a reboot and it worked.
Problem solved. When you do, another page will appear giving details of the file you are about to download will appear. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded. Hope this helps! This didn't answer your question or issue? I recently upgraded to Lion. Canon does not have a driver for this. Canon Support worked with me to try and get around this stumbling block to no avail. Does anyone out there have a solution?
I have a macbook pro running mavericks. Don't connect the usb cable to your printer and computer until after the driver has installed. Just follow all of the steps from ktst it was like 3 steps that took no more than 5 mins. The driver version is 6. The follow the directions in the discussion link. I need help to get my Canon Selphy CP running. Could not find a driver that works on the WEB. Just got the CP and tried printing from iPhoto.
All the pictures come out too dark - noticeably darker than on my Apple display. This makes iPhoto editing worthless, since what you see is not what prints!!! Spent two days researching Colorsync and ICC profiles documentation, but can't figure out what the problem is.
Canon states no guarantee that their printers work with A query to their customer service produced no solution. I've seen a couple references to this same iPhoto compatibility problem on other Canon printers.

If you are printing iPhoto to Canon, compare your photos and see if you may be experiencing this as well. Anyone figure this out yet? Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. Regards TD.
